What makes up the price of warehousing and fulfilment

A logistics operator bills storage and operations separately. Below are the typical price-list items with indicative ranges for the Polish market in 2026 — your actual rate depends on the goods profile and volume. Amounts in PLN (roughly 4.3 PLN = 1 EUR).

ItemUnit2026 range
Pallet storage (class A, ambient)PLN / pallet space / month35–60 (≈ €8–14)
Goods-in, palletisedPLN / pallet8–15
40′ container unloading — palletisedPLN / container350–600
40′ container unloading — loose cartonsPLN / container800–1,500
E-commerce order picking & packingPLN / order4–9 (≈ €1–2)
Each additional unit in an orderPLN / unit0.8–1.5
Carton and packing materialsPLN / parcel1.5–4
Domestic courier shipping up to 30 kgPLN / parcel13–18 (≈ €3–4)
Returns handling (receipt, inspection, restocking)PLN / return3–6
Labelling, repacking, kitting (VAS)PLN / unit0.3–0.8
A note on the ranges. These are indicative market rates for standard small goods. Oversized or heavy items, LOT/expiry-date requirements or a large SKU count push rates up; a stable, high volume pushes them down. That is why a serious operator always asks about your goods profile before quoting a price.

Worked example: an online store

The store keeps 120 pallets in stock, ships 1,000 orders per month (1.3 units per order on average, ~4% returns), and receives one 20-pallet container delivery a month.

Storage: 120 pallets × PLN 45PLN 5,400
Goods-in: 20 pallets × PLN 12PLN 240
Picking: 1,000 orders × PLN 6PLN 6,000
Additional units: 300 × PLN 1PLN 300
Packing and materials: 1,000 × PLN 2.50PLN 2,500
Domestic courier: 1,000 × PLN 15PLN 15,000
Returns: 40 × PLN 5PLN 200
Total per month · ≈ PLN 29.60 per order≈ PLN 29,640
The key takeaway: more than half of the cost is courier shipping, not warehousing. The biggest savings come not from negotiating the pallet rate, but from access to the operator’s volume courier rates and from optimising parcel dimensions. This is also why fulfilment from Poland is attractive for foreign sellers — Polish storage and labour rates are among the most competitive in the EU.

What really moves your rate

Stock rotation. A pallet that turns over in two weeks costs differently than one sitting for half a year. High rotation means lower handling rates — a warehouse earns on movement, not on dust.
SKU count. Fifty SKUs pick fast and cheap. Five thousand SKUs need more pick faces and tighter records — the picking rate goes up.
Dimensions and weight. A standard locker-sized parcel is a different price league than a generator on a pallet. Non-standard goods are always priced individually.
Seasonality. If you ship three times more in Q4 than in February, the operator must secure people and space for the peak — but you still pay only for the resources you use, not for an empty warehouse in February.
Special requirements. Batch (LOT) tracking, expiry dates, fragile goods, serial-number control — every extra process is an extra price-list line.
Integrations and channels. Allegro, Amazon FBM, your own store, B2B pallet shipments — the more channels, the more the WMS integration matters. API or BaseLinker integration is usually free or a one-off fee.

How to lower the cost per order

1

Courier at operator volume

An operator shipping tens of thousands of parcels gets rates a single store cannot negotiate. The courier saving alone can cover the picking cost.

2

Carton optimisation

Matching box sizes to parcel-locker dimensions and courier weight thresholds cuts both material costs and the shipping rate.

3

Forecasts and delivery slots

Announced deliveries and realistic volume forecasts let the operator plan staffing — and a predictable client gets better rates.
